Welcome to our new Train Simulator Website

Early Problems

With the launch of the new site, there are some early problems we’ve noted and there is still work on-going in the background.

Most of you will note that for now, all the articles are assigned to TrainSim-James. Don’t panic, we’re working on allocating all the articles back to the respective users over the next few days. Please do not contact us about this.

Also, while some of you have been transferred over, others may not have been. If you wish, you can sign up for a new account but we request that you use the same username as the old site so that we can match you up with any articles you’ve had published.

In some articles, there are a few minor issues with photos or screenshots, we’re currently investigating this and will update when we know more.

If you spot any problems other than those noted above, please feel free to contact us at engine-driver@dovetailgames.com

  • There is talk about a problem with uploading WS scenarios for Feather River Canyon. Many upset. This issue was reported to DTG them saying it is a Steam issue. Can you press Steam for a fix to get these scenarios up and running. I personally love the route and will purchase when WS scenarios are available.

    • We’re continuing to work with Valve to address the current Steam Workshop troubles. Please bear with us, the problem is a complex one and needs to be handled carefully to avoid further complications but we hope to have some news soon.

  • Now that we have the option to put photos in our articles, it says I don’t have permission to put my own photos in my articles. Why is this?

    • Bear with us, it’s still being developed so keep checking back. Let us know how you get on.

  • I’ve encountered two bugs:

I couldn’t set a password with special characters in it, I had to resort to just alphanumeric ones. The error would say the new passwords didn’t match.

The site doesn’t mention RSS anywhere. Not in the page headers either, which means that most feed readers cannot discover the URL to subscribe to. But, like any other WordPress-based website, the feeds can be accessed through /feed so I was able to successfully add this site to my feed reader and get notifications of updates. The full URL to subscribe to is https://train-simulator.com/feed/

    • Thank you very much for taking the time to provide your feedback. The issues mentioned have now been logged and passed to our developer for attention. Once we know more about when we can expect the fixes to go live, we’ll post an update to make sure everyone knows what’s happening and when.

  • Any ETA on when we can add pictures/bold/italics in the article submission process?

    • There’s still lots of work to do and our developer is working extremely hard in resolving many of the problems we’ve seen up to now. As soon as we know more, we’ll post an update so everyone knows what’s happening and when

    • Yes, I have just had the same problem.

  • Aesthetically… it’s beautiful. Functionally… it is/will be wonderful. Do I look forward to exploring it? In the words of one former governor, who says all the wrong things, “You betchya!” But I don’t want any social networking. I don’t want the security- and social awkwardness of managing “friends” requests and profile visibility, et al. So, for all 5 of you–(“3, sir!”)–for all 3 of you who might want to “friend” me, it doesn’t mean I dislike you. I expect to use this beautiful site to explore TS… and probably not dialogue nearly as much. (Everyone may now cheer at once, wink, wink!) 😉 Probably a good thing for me. See you grognards on the forums. Cheers!

  • With the old website there was a support section where you could download the Manuals for a DLC.
But I cannot find that section on this new site and if you are thinking about buying a new DLC then the manual is helpful.

    • Unfortunately, the manuals have not yet found a home on the new site. We’ll add this to our list and review in due course.

    • If a manual is available for that product there is a link on that product page. Still it would be nice to have a link in the Categories column to have easy access to all of them. You can also find the manuals if purchased in:

      C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\RailWorks\Manuals

  • I LOVE the new site Steve! Feels…organized. Can’t wait to send my articles!

  • It’s a great improvement. Pity I lost all my ‘points’ garnered from posting and doing scenarios, but there you are.

    • All is not lost, we’ll be announcing something about the points system soon

  • I’m addicted to changing my profile picture!

    send help!

  • How do you add an image when creating an article?

    • Unfortunately it is not possible at this moment in time. We’re aware of the problem and hope to have it fixed soon. If you’d like to submit an article, upload your screenshots to your steam library and provide links in place and we’ll sort it all out for you.

    • @northrail1

Apparently, it’s a known bug and they are working on it 😛

  • Congratulation for the decision to join two web sites in one. I suggest the convenience of showing the prices of the addons in Euros, which also it is a common currency to more users (or in both coins, at least. 😉

    • The issue you’re describing is a known bug, we’re currently working to resolve this. Thank you very much for taking the time to provide feedback.

  • Hallo everybody

I am a self admitted zero level, purely for pleasure player on TS2013/14/15/16.
The PC boffins under you have, rightly so, lots of technical input but for me 2016 has improved my TS2016 playing fun.

I have a couple of questions.
    1) How do I get rain on the windscreens? I have been on TS since 2013 and havnt sorted that yet while I can see it on videos on youtube. Can/will anybpdy advise me on this point please?
    2) I have a question if the sceanario menu would please indicate up front if I have the right DLC for the scenario instead of me having to wait untill it loads to get the dreaded black box with things I am missing to be able play the scenario. I cant follow the logic when the scenario is voor a 101 diesel unit (which I have) and the scenario cant be played because I havent got some DLC with nothing to do with the scenario.
In the hope people in the know will point me in the right direction to an answer please.

I remain a fan of TS2016 especially the 1950’s routes and stock.

    till next RogerT

  • Welcome the new website, Hooray!

    • The issue you’re describing is a known bug, we’re currently working to resolve this. Thank you very much for taking the time to provide feedback.

  • New site looks amazing, perhaps more capabilities for more user articles?

    • Thank you for your feedback. There will be a whole host of updates to come and hopefully a raft of improvements and features. Always great to receive your ideas so please feel free to send them to us at engine-driver@dovetailgames.com

  • Uhm, how do I add photos to articles I am submitting? I mean, I know how to add the cover photo, but the article submission process seems to have doubled in complexity.

    • The issue you’re describing is a known bug, we’re currently working to resolve this. Thank you very much for taking the time to provide feedback.

  • love the look of the new site its so slick looking really nice

  • Lovely new site, I’m really liking the options of profile customization.

  • Congratulations on the new site. Are you guys at DTG aware of the photos not appearing in all articles older than “Feather River U-Boats”? And are you aware of no add photo and add video button when submitting an article?

    • The issue you’re describing is a known bug, we’re currently working to resolve this. Thank you very much for taking the time to provide feedback.

  • Best of luck with the updated web site.

  • Nice looking website, looks better than the old one but where is the point system (at writing the first comment)

    • As posted on the old site, due to the differences in the data format between the sites, we were unable to port over your points from your profiles. We do have these all listed on record however and we’ll be announcing what we’re doing with these soon. A new points system is on its way though and more information on that will be provided soon.

      • Thanks for the reassurance, I will look out for this in the future

  • Very nice change. A couple of suggestions though:

I cant find a link to Marketplace. I had to do a search to locate it. It would also be helpful if there was a link to the manuals in the “Categories” column.

One more thing. The link to email you with issues does not work.

Again nice job on combining both sites

    • Thank you very much for taking the time to provide feedback. The link to email us will only work if you have an email application, such as Microsoft Outlook, you’ll need to copy and paste it if you use an online provider such as Google for your emails.

  • Well done with the new site, it looks very good.

  • The site looks nice. Do you plan to enable integration with Steam? I’d like to use my Steam avatar and show off my achievements and hours played 🙂

    • Thank you very much for taking the time to provide feedback. The good news is that yes, we are currently investigating ways to integrate Steam with the new site. Unfortunately, the existing interfaces for Steam doesn’t do what we need it to do so it’s going to take a little time for us to write our own. As soon as we know more, we’ll share it with you here.

  • Good job guys, can’t wait for it to be fully functioning 🙂

  • Congrats on the new site. Hopefully, this will be more user friendly.
