With manifest Q-452 in tow, CSX General Electric AC6000CW and Dash 8-40CW diesels roll north on the busy Train Simulator Miami – West Palm Beach route main line. All screenshots by Gary Dolzall.

Amtrak Train 98 rolls northbound across the South Fork of the New River near Fort Lauderdale in the career scenario “The Silver Meteor.” Amtrak’s stylish General Electric P42DC “Genesis” diesels are just one of seven different types of modern locomotives and equipment you’ll climb aboard in Miami – West Palm Beach Scenario Pack 01.

In the career scenario “Morning Commuter Call,” you will be the engineer of the first northbound commuter train from Miami, but your day begins at Hialeah Yard, where you’ll first deadhead the consist to Airport Station for a 4:15 am departure. For the deadhead move, you will operate from the cab of an F40PHL-2 diesel, then for the scheduled run northbound, you’ll take the controls in a Bombardier bi-level cab car. Under a pre-dawn sky, the commuter train makes it departure from Miami’s modernistic Airport Station.

The south Florida main line is humming with activity in this scene from the two-part career scenario “Miami Bound.” North- and southbound commuter trains are about to meet on the elevated two-track passenger main line while a CSX northbound freight works north on the freight line crossing of the New River.

In another scene from the two-part career scenario “Miami Bound,” a jetliner climbs overhead as a unique EMD/Morrison-Knudsen F40PHL-2 diesel leads a Bombardier bi-level-equipped southbound commuter train making its stop at Fort Lauderdale Airport Station.

The career scenario “Southbound Silver Star” puts you in the cab of Amtrak Train 91 as it completes the last leg of its 1,500-mile journey from New York to Miami. Under a darkening evening sky, the Silver Star powered by a duo of GE P42DCs weaves its way into Hialeah yard.

Hauling stone quarried in south Florida has been a staple of traffic on the Miami – West Palm Beach line dating back to Seaboard Air Line days. In the career scenario “Big Macs and Heavy Rocks,” you will be the engineer of loaded CSX stone train K-978 coming off the Homestead Subdivision at Miami and working north with a duo of husky EMD SD80MACs as power (above). Stone loads northbound mean empties moving southward, and in the scenario “CSX K-977 Sanford Empties” you will take the throttle of a pair of CSX GE Dash 8-40CWs hauling empty stone hoppers back toward Miami (below).

The Train Simulator Miami – West Palm Beach route is rich with local freight and switching opportunities, and two career scenarios included in Miami – West Palm Beach Scenario Pack 01 put you to work handling such duties in a veteran CSX EMD SD40-2. In the career scenario “CSX O-718 Switch Job,” you’ll be called to handle switching at Fort Lauderdale (above) before taking a cut of cars to Anglers Avenue for later pick up by a local freight. And in the scenario “CSX O-722 Miami Day Switcher,” you are assigned to work Miami and Hialeah area lineside industries. While handling local tonnage, CSX SD40-2 8813 trundles across the rail diamonds with the Florida East Coast Line (below).

Take the throttle of seven different types of modern locomotives and equipment in passenger, freight, and commuter service – and enjoy more than 8 hours of new and challenging railroading experiences – in the ten realistic career scenarios of Miami – West Palm Beach Scenario Pack 01, available now at the Dovetail Games and Steam Stores!

Looking good. Sure would like to see a scenario pack for the Peninsula Corridor or the Sacramento Northern route.
