“Feather River Canyon Scenario Pack 1” features 10 career scenario re-creating the Western Pacific and early Union Pacific eras on Train Simulator’s popular Feather River Canyon route. The scenarios, closely based upon actual railroad operations, represent a diversity of tasks – from priority mainline freights to locals to switching operations – across the full breadth of the Feather River Canyon route. And you’ll also have the opportunity to take the throttles of motive power as diverse as Western Pacific GE U30Bs and EMD F7s and GP20s, as well as Union Pacific Electro-Motive SD40-2s and even a “Hammerhead” UP SW10 switcher.

North Jersey Coast Line Scenario Pack 01

In its 10 career scenarios, North Jersey Coast Line Scenario Pack 01 offers you the opportunity to take the throttle of NJ Transit’s ultra-modern motive power — the ALP-45DP dual power locomotive and NJT’s signature ALP-46 electric – as well as the commuter carrier’s venerable diesels, including the Electro-Motive GP40PH-2B and F40PH-2CAT. You’ll also go to work in Comet V and MultiLevel push-pull cab cars, and you’ll even be called for freight duty along the historic “New York & Long Branch” section of the North Jersey Coast Line route.

Donner Pass Southern Pacific Scenario Pack 01

During the era from the mid-1980s throughout the 1990s, great change came to famed Donner Pass. In 1988, the Southern Pacific and Denver & Rio Grande Western merged and both before and after that merger, the influence of D&RGW on Donner Pass operations was significant. Then, in 1996, Southern Pacific was merged into the Union Pacific. Throughout this fascinating era, Donner Pass hosted (as it does today) Amtrak’s iconic California Zephyr. And the Donner Pass Scenario Pack 01 brings to life this fascinating era of change and its great diversity of motive power, trains, and challenging operations!

Western Pacific symbol freight “WPX,” the Western Pacific Expeditor, operated from Stockton, California to a connection with the Union Pacific at Salt Lake City, Utah, and behind a quartet of GE U30Bs, the WPX waits on the west slope as a westbound freight passes (above). It is 1983, shortly after the merger of the Western Pacific into the Union Pacific, and UP symbol train “TGW,” the Tidewater Grain West, is forwarding a shipment of Midwestern grain to Turlock, California. The dynamic brakes of the UP SD40-2s are humming as the heavy grain train carefully descends the 1 percent grade of the Feather River Canyon route’s west slope (below).

In a two-part scenario included in North Jersey Coast Line Scenario Pack 01, you will be the engineer of NJ Transit Train 7421 on a summer weekend afternoon, ready to depart New York Penn bound for Long Branch. In the two-part scenario “D&RGW Coal,” you’ll have the daunting assignment of taking a heavily loaded unit train of Utah coal up the east slope of Donner Pass. With a trio of D&RGW SD40T-2s on the point, in Part 1 the coal train has just departed Sparks and is passing through Reno, then in Part 2 makes the demanding climb of the pass toward Norden and the summit.
