Train Sim World: CSX Heavy Haul Beta – Day Eight

Written by: TrainSim-James

Daily Activity – Seasons & Time of Day

Nothing immerses you more than weather and lighting, climbing into the cab on a crisp, cold morning, throwing the heater on and preparing for a hard day’s work; having the A/C on full blast, with the windows wide open and the sun blinds in use on a blistering summers evening.

Haven’t installed Train Sim World: CSX Heavy Haul Beta yet? Want to know how you can provide feedback? Need to register a Dovetail Games Forum account? Read this article for guides!

In Train Sim World: CSX Heavy Haul Beta, there are a total of six preset season & time of day options which you can choose from in Service Mode. Try driving, and walking, throughout the included Sand Patch Grade sections in each of the season & time of day presets, and be sure to provide feedback on the look and feel of the route in each represented time and season.

Is the lighting correct for certain times of day and certain conditions? Do the wetness, snowiness and windiness of surfaces reflect the current weather pattern and severity? Do snow and rain fall on locomotive windows, and subsequently get wiped off again, correctly? Getting the feel of the seasons and times of day right is vital to an authentic and realistic experience, and with your feedback we can achieve that!

Please see this PDF Document [English] [Français] [Deutsche], detailing exactly what feedback we are looking for, and how you can organise it for us, any feedback should be posted on the Dovetail Games Forums, and all Bugs to our Support Site.

If you’re unsure of what to do next, come back tomorrow when we’ll share another activity which you can perform within Train Sim World: CSX Heavy Haul Beta, helping you to provide feedback on key areas, and shaping the future of Train Simulation

This is exactly why this game needs room scale VR. This game has the potential to match the MOST immersive virtual reality games out there, if not be the most. Every aspect of TSW’s gameplay lends itself to ideal VR immersion: in-cab levers & controls, traversing the loco and load with room scale, and the lack of g-forces in actual trains could create an awe inspiring experience… Realism down to every detail except the environmental vibrations (and risk of danger!)

I would pay a hefty price of admission for the experience on my Vive.

I’ve read elsewhere on the site that there are no current plans for VR integration. I am truly disappointed in this. I hope that the plans evolve soon!
